Elle vient de faire son grand retour après quarante années d’absence. Une mosaïque chypriote du VI^e siècle, volée en 1974, a été exposée mercredi au musée byzantin de Nicosie. Représentant saint Marc, elle avait été volée suite à l’invasion turque et provenait à l’origine de l’église de Panayia Kanakari. Elle a été retrouvée par Arthur Brand, un enquêteur néerlandais, qui a mené une importante investigation durant deux ans dans toute l’Europe. La mosaïque, qui sera restaurée prochainement, retrouva ensuite son emplacement d’origine dans l’église d’ici 2019.
